Now that you've gotten everyone excited for your epic party, you need to make sure it's, well...EPIC! Here's our step by step method to an epic spy party!
Spy Gadgets!
Spy gadgets are an absolute must for any spy party to be truly epic and AUTHENTIC, we really strive for authentic parties when we give you these ideas! So to feel like you have your own spy agency, check out our top 4 must have spy gadgets for an authentic experience!
These are a HUGE hit at any party! They give your party a personal touch for your guests because each one has their name, photo, and code name! If you have good photos of your friends, then great! Otherwise you can let them know about the badges and ask them for content. Personally, I like keeping it a surprise! And these badges are interactive too! They come with a QR code that links to a matching "access granted" video! You can either give them out beforehand and have your guests scan them for access to the party, or have them scan it later for some other section of the party you want to feel exclusive! So, you probably can't incorporate a pen camera into a game, but you can add it to your present opening experience! If you have a gift that's hard to wrap or you just want to add some mystery then this is perfect! Take a pic of either the gift or a clue to where the gift is hidden and wait for the birthday person to figure out it's a pen cam, and when they do, your boring pen just turned into the coolest gift ever!

Decor
Ok, so decor is interesting. It really depends on what exactly you're doing. If you're doing spy training and you're supposed to be at headquarters there's decor for that. But if you're stopping a grand heist at a museum then there's entirely different decor for that!
But we can most definitely give you the must haves, and can't miss decor!
Make EVERYTHING Glow!
First of all, you're gonna need a ginormous pack of glow sticks! Tape glowsticks everywhere! Under tables, behind your TV, under counter tops, behind paintings, anywhere you can't see the glowstick, but you can see the glow!
Lasers
Lasers are an absolute must have for any spy party! And because they're so important, you're gonna be needing a lot of them! Hang them across your halls and entryway! Cover the ceiling and walls! Ok, so the ceiling might have been too far, but otherwise hang lasers everywhere! And to make sure that your lasers are epic and authentic, check out our guide on HOW TO MAKE LASERS!
Backdrops
Backdrops can add a nice touch to any spy decor by creating a focal point in the room! With something custom to your party, like one of these customizable fabric backdrops you can get creative and even come up with your own spy agency name!
Check out this laser light projector! Even though you usually want nice bright lighting, having a dark area might work to your advantage! Not only does this fun light brighten up a space, but it's super cool! I mean, it's a laser room light!
A safe is a classic spy item. Crown jewels either waiting to be stolen or saved, a code left to be cracked. Your agents are probably trying to find something that should be in a safe, so to make a truly believable scene, this tiny safe is perfect!

Photo Booth Props
If you followed our directions on decor, you shouldn't need a photo booth because the rest of your house will already look amazing. But if you didn't listen, here are the best photo booth ideas for your spy party!
First, you're gonna need to have a really cool backdrop! Something that stands out! Using a fabric backdrop and some props, you're gonna be ready for the camera!
For the backdrop of your photo booth, you have a lot of cool options. Including, this Fun Laser Backdrop which works for everything! Or if you have another spy party or want to use it as decor afterwards, it's not specific to just the one party! But you could also get a customized backdrop completely unique to your party with one of these personalized backdrops! Getting a customized backdrop is not only super cool, but can work as the centerpiece to the party room's decor, and maybe even in the birthday kids room afterwards!
Props are what bring depth to your photos, adding texture and contrast from the backdrop. Some good spy props would be stuff like your Spy Badges, Sunglasses, Earpieces, and anything with Top Secret on it! So no matter what your decor looks like, your photos just came directly from HQ!
Wait! There's More! I forgot to mention something! The MOST IMPORTANT thing when taking spy pics, are the spy poses! Anything from, back-to-back style or staring straight into the camera holding out your spy badge, to getting down into a spy landing position, like you just jumped out of a vent!

Party Favors
Every Party needs some great party favors, but YOURS are going to be epic!
We've compiled the best of the best for your party favors! From the loot, to the packaging, and even the presentation.
First up, loot!
For loot, you need to have a small selection of different things. In addition to your super cool spy badges that you've given out, here are a few things to put in your party favors that will truly be epic!
Sunglasses are always good spy party favors! And these are completely customizable, so you can personalize each one to your guests!
I know we already mentioned this, but your guests will inevitably want to take some home. Besides, what are you gonna do with 20 Invisible Ink Pens?
These just seem fun and colorful and would look really cool if they're already lit up when they open up their party favor!
These will just make the whole party favor glow and make it really cool! And kids love to put one on each finger and see them glow!
Have everyone "reflect" on their party experience with these super cool mirrored sunglasses, that let you spy on the action going on behind you!
Yes, we already mentioned this, but it's so cool we had to say it twice! So, after you've used your super cool earpieces for your games, everyone can take theirs home as their own epic spy gadget! Plus if they live near by, you just might be able to keep the fun going and use them long distance!
Second, Packaging!
The Packaging is still part of the party favors, so it needs to be equally epic to what's inside!
This is such a cool idea! So first of all, not only does the water bottle work as packaging, but it's also a really good party favor all in itself! You could just give out the bottle and be good, that would be an epic party favor, done! But in this case, we're gonna fill it up with stuff! So first, fill up the bottles with some of the stuff above. (maybe not the sunglasses, they probably wouldn't fit) Then you can get these really fun customized fingerprint stickers and have everyone's party favor customized with their name or code name!
Mysterious Top Secret Black Gift Boxes
For something more subtle and incognito you can use black gift bags or boxes to wrap your party favors, giving them the feeling of being classified! Actually, you can add these classified top secret stickers or use a real stamp and stamp each party favor as you give them out, to really give it the full effect!
Colorful Gift Bags with Customized Thank You Tags
Get gift bags to match the color theme of your party and attach some of these fun customizable spy gift tags to bring the whole thing together!
Third, PRESENTATION!
Presentation is what makes party favors seem like an event! You could just give your guests their party favors, but that wouldn't be any fun! You're gonna make them earn their party favors on one last mission before the end of the party!
Now that you have epic party favors you need to hide them! Yes, hide them. I know, you just worked so hard and now I want you to hide them! Trust me it's worth it!
Option 1! Duffle Bag
Take all of your party favors and throw them in a duffle bag! Ok, so maybe nicely place them in this very cool laser duffle bag and hide it somewhere in your house, or yard, or party venue. Then give everyone a clue to where it is and let the fun begin!
Option 2! Make them Dig
Bury the party favors in the middle of your yard! No seriously, Put all the party favors in a box and bury it in your yard! Just make sure you provide shovels, otherwise nobody will guess to start digging. Plus, you might want to put a clue to where it is to make it a bit more obvious. You want your yard to stay in one piece.
Option 3! Use the Classic Vent
Every spy movie has somebody crawling through a vent. And assuming you didn't do that already, it's the perfect place to hide your party favors! So you probably don't have an easy open wall vent that fits party favors, but if you do! This is brilliant!
Games
For games, you want everyone to feel like they're in spy training, leading up to a big mission! Each game is a different section of training, and after everyone has passed their training, it's time for the big mission!

You could either have a list of training activities somewhere in HQ or you could have the training schedule on the back of everyone's badges!
Tech Division Lab
This is where everyone gets gadgets!
As everyone enters the Tech Lab they receive stuff like their earpieces, UV pens, or any other gadgets that kids will use multiple times throughout the party!
Now you could just give them the gadgets and let everyone play for a while, that would be great! But we're all here for epic, so brace yourself for a whole lot of fun!
Using Brainbolt as our base game to build from, here's how it works.
Agents must pass a Neural Sequence Encryption Test to prove they can focus and remember their mission, in order to proceed with training! Each Agent must reach their target (something like level 5 or a certain goal in the game). Once agents reach their target, they receive access to their tech!
Encryption & Accuracy Training -
Tiny Ducks. Tiny ducks with sunglasses to be exact. So very many tiny ducks.
A crew of tiny spy ducks has stolen the party favors! And the only way to find the party favors is to find all the ducks and solve their puzzle!
What you have to do to set up:
Hide the party favors
Come up with a 5-12 word phrase that leads to the party favors
Write each letter of the phrase on a different duck (preferably each word corresponds to a different color of duck)
Finally, hide all of the ducks throughout your house!
Then give everyone the story of the ducks stealing the party favors, and let the fun begin as they try to find them all! Then they'll have to decode the message by unscrambling the letters on the ducks! Have fun!
Stealth & Agility Training - Laser Games
Lasers are really fun and make an appearance in EVERY spy movie!
Set up a dark room with different obstacles and lasers that you and your guests have to navigate through to each retrieve a different item. You could use puzzle pieces, parts of a word scramble, or any other type of code!
Once everyone has completed the mission you can put them all together to receive the hidden message!
HOW TO MAKE LASERS!
Because lasers are so fundamental to your spy party, we've given you some options on how to make them!
Streamers or Colored Yarn are always good classic options especially for younger kids, or if you're doing it in a brighter room.
Glowing Tape is the perfect option if you're looking for more of a challenge! Not only will Glowing Tape show up like lasers in a dark room, but it will also stick to anyone who touches it, so nobody gets away with setting off the alarms! Or if you want to have different color lasers, you could check out this UV Tape. It requires a blacklight to glow, but it's still cool and gives your lasers some variety!
Glowing Laser Strings are pretty cool! This will add a whole new aspect of fun to your laser game! These laser strings not only glow, but move! Yep, they move! which means all you have to do is let the fun unfold, while kids have fun for hours trying to jump through the laser without it touching them!
Precision Under Pressure Spy Training - Perfection
Everyone said this was the best spy training ever at our spy party, so now you get to join in the fun by adding in to your spy party!
Agents put their reflexes and focus to the test with a high-stakes Spy Training Mission! Using the classic game of Perfection, recruits race against the clock to complete a top-secret task: match all the coded shapes to their correct locations before the countdown ends. If time runs out? The board explodes (okay... pops!)—scattering the mission pieces everywhere! It is the perfect way to build suspense, test spy-worthy speed and precision, and get everyone cheering. Fast hands, sharp eyes, and nerves of steel are a must!
Just make sure to set a timer on this game because otherwise you'll be playing for hours!
Infiltration & Surveillance Training - Camera Avoidance
This one is really good, but it's gonna need a lot of prep so I hope you're prepared for this!
You'll be needing: Cameras, a Monitor, a dark room, and some crown jewels. (or anything a spy maybe trying to retrieve from a vault)
First, set up some kind of security cameras. You could either set up actual security cameras, one of these mini surveillance cameras, or you could set up your phone. The important part is that you have a camera set up!
Next, you need a monitor in a different room to display your footage. If you use a security system or a mini security cam, those usually come with apps that you can stream to any device. And if you're using your phone, just screen share to your TV. And now you have a tiny spy surveillance center! Now it's time for the game! In the room with the camera, set up some small obstacles and some kind of table or pedestal for your crown jewels or goal retrieval item. Now split your party into 2 teams, and have one team watch the surveillance footage, and have the other team, try to retrieve the object from the other side of the room without being caught by the security team! And if the security team catches someone in the act, have them set off some kind of alarm!
And you are done! You've officially completed your mission of making an epic party game!

Cake
Get ready to make the best cake a spy party has ever had! We've got everything from cake gadgets to decorating tips, making sure your cake is classified epic!
Cake Gadgets
You've had gadgets throughout your party this far, why should you stop with the cake?
I'm not sure how this works, but I'm so glad it does! Check out this super cool cake stand gadget! It has a secret compartment that you can hide something in, like a small gift, clue or secret code. So just when everyone thinks the party is over, you have one last surprise for them by telling the birthday person to pull the trigger, revealing the compartment!
If you're looking for something a little bit simpler, this secret compartment cake topper will do the trick! With it being easier to hide in the cake, and a whole lot cheaper, this cake topper almost takes the cake!
Decorating!
Decorating your cake can be the most fun and most challenging part of baking!
Here are our top 5 Spy Cake Decorating Ideas to get you started!
Personally, I think it would look best to have either a black cake and bright colorful decorations, or a bright colored cake with all black decorations! So it has that mysterious spy look and contrast!
Gold Fingerprints
I'm not entierly sure if this would work, but it could be really cool! Take some gold luster dust and dip your fingers in and see if you can get your fingerprints to transfer to the cake! If it works, you now have the coolest cake ever! Let us know in the comments if you try it! FYI: You can make edible glitter yourself by mixing sugar and food coloring then baking it for 10 min at 275F. Let cool, break it up and enjoy!
This Cake Will Self Destruct!
Add some fun text to your cake by having it say something like, "This Cake Will Self Destruct" or "Top Secret". Here's three ways you could add text to your cake, 1: Cut out fondant or marzipan letters and add to your finished cake. 2: Once you're done frosting your cake, scrape back the frosting in the shape of your text! (You need some contrast between the color of the cake and the frosting) 3: Get out a piping bag and get to work! Fill a piping bag with frosting, and try your hand at cake hand lettering! This can be a fun and challenging experience! Any of these options will give you perfect self destructing, top secret or classified cakes!
Shape
You can make your cake any shape you want! You could shape it like a pair of sunglasses, a spy badge, a bomb, even in the shape of a spy! That last one might be a bit ambitious, but you can try!
Give your cake some good old fashioned spy style sunglasses! If you're looking for something simple and fun, this will definitely complete the mission! You can get different size sunglasses cookie cutters here, to cut out some fondant and you'll be good to go!
