Whether you cover your house in shamrocks or you don't own a single green shirt, we're here to help you create an amazing St. Patrick's Party! And the best part? This is a fail proof party plan...from kids to teens to adults, I can guarantee everyone will be up having fun!* And you'll officially have the best St. Patrick's Party they've ever been to.
Now, I have a question. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's? And follow up question, how do you define "celebrate"?
Now the absolute most important part of a St. Patrick's Party is the music! So start there and go find your favorite Irish station or playlist, that will match the style of your party. Personally, I think this playlist is the best choice, espEcially for a family or kids party! As for decor, you can do anything from paper shamrocks and gold coins, to bagpipes and fools gold! Whatever matches the vibe of your party. The only rule is to be very very green! And I believe it goes without saying, but just in case, the dress code is green! Not almost green, or that weird teNnis ball color, actually green.
Now that we have that covered, I present to you...the epic in this party!
A scavenger hunt, a treasure hunt, a series of riddles and clues leading you to the pot of gold! Whatever you would like to call it, it's incredibly fun. Although "treasure hunt" is probably the most accurate term, for our purposes, we shall call it a "scavenger hunt" because really, it's not quite either, and simultaneously better than both.
The main idea is, it starts when you receive a clue at the beginning of the party. (this could be from you or the leprechauns, depending on how you want to Develop the storyline) Now, all the clues are some type of riddle or limerick. Which then leads you to a specific location where you find another clue, leading to another clue, leading to another clue, and so On and so forth. It can be as short or as long as you'd like, depending on how long you want it to take. (and depending on how good your guests are at riddles) Finally, when you reach the last clue, (this one should be a little harder) it leads to the pot oF gold! And if you want, that can totally be it and your party will be amazing! But...if you want to go above and beyond, I happen to have some more ideas.
One of the best additions is adding challenges in between the clues. For example, at The end of a clue, it says you can't move on until you complete a specific task. Something like doing a themed craft or playing a minute-to-win-it-style game. Fast, fun, and makes your scavenger Hunt that much more dynamic!
You also have a lot of fun options to work with for the gold! First of all, there's so many diffErent things you can use for the gold! You could hide fools gold, or gold coins. Or you could hide some type of fun prize, like shamRock charms, or tiny leprechaun hats! And second, where you hide it makes a huge difference! You could hide it somewhere inside, like in a drAwer, or taped to the bottom of the table. Or...you could hide It outside! Primarily, buried in your backyard (or front). So maybe you shouldn't go dig in the middle of your grass, but how cool is it to dig up an actual buried treasure! Find a hidden corner, or under a tree, somewhere you can easily refereNce in your clue. Or if you don't have a tree or a corner, or you simply feel like making it a little bit harder, you could always give aBstract instructions (example: start at the back door and take 12 steps forward, then 20 steps right, turn 90 degrees to the right, go 10 feet and dig!) No matter what, it's always fun tO watch the excitement when someone finds the treasure!
And With that, you're now ready to throw the best St. Patrick's Party ever! And don't worry, if coming up with riddles doesn't go too well, we've got you covered. You can always check out our pre-made scavenger hunt HERE. But I highly encourage you to incorporate 3 clues that are specific to things only your guests would know! And when you're ready to invite the guest list, we'll be right here with a St. Patrick's Invite to match any style you go for!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Have an amazing party! And don't trap any leprechauns!
And again I ask, do you celebrate St. Patrick's? And how do you define "celebrate"?
My guess is it's a very different answer this time.
